What I write

I have written a great many things, including on bathroom walls (which is definitely something you shouldn't do unless, of course, you have a very good reason for it—like that you want to).

I have written for film, television, novels, video games, and virtual reality. I specialize in fantasy, science fiction, comedy, and children's media.

Who I am

Hello, I'm Quinn and I was born in a little town by the sea called Santa Barbara. It was there that I started writing plays. The LA Times said that I had an"assured instinct for idiosyncratic characters and sharply-observed detail" (they ALSO said that my "lack of specificity reflects the kind of overreaching beyond life experience typical of an emerging playwright," but let's not bring that up).

I then went to college in a slightly bigger town called Los Angeles. There I occasionally attended the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in Writing for Screen and Television. After college I wrote video games and learned how to file taxes.

Unfortunately, I've since discovered that I've somehow become an adult. I've also found that there still many adventures hiding in me—they've been burbling out in either the form of indigestion or fantastical stories.

I hope that we can experience both together very soon.

The Remarkable Inventions of Walter Mortinson

I'm thrilled to announce my Middle Grade debut! From Publisher's Weekly:

"Liz Kossnar at Simon & Schuster has acquired world rights to a debut novel by Quinn Sosna-Spear. Pitched as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meets American Gods, The Remarkable Inventions of Walter Mortinson follows 12-year-old Walter’s travels in the stolen family hearse, through towns where people dress as fish, worship bees, and dig for living rocks, en route to meet the infamous inventor who mentored his father. Publication is planned for spring 2019; John M. Cusick at Folio Literary Management brokered the deal."

I'm dying to embark on this magical adventure with you, Walter, and Cordelia. It's going to be quite the journey.
